In research and teaching, electronic data is produced and exchanged quite easily. Often files are simply saved somewhere without a systematical plan. As a result, searching or identifying file versions may be unnecessarily time-consuming. However, with some simple strategies and a little discipline this can be easily avoided:

Another important issue is securing your data carefully, as losing data due to theft, loss or destruction of an electronic device can severely impair your work. Therefore make sure you have a good data management plan and treat your data according to its high value for you.
